EFT helps the client track and articulate the primary, vulnerable emotions (e.g., fear, sadness) that are masked by secondary emotions (e.g., anger, detachment). MBT focuses on improving the client’s capacity to understand their own and others’ mental states, thereby reducing the need for rigid cognitive defenses.
